FAQ

Here, we have compiled answers to address commonly asked questions about DStv's services, troubleshooting devices, and understanding decoder functionality. For additional support, visit the official DStv website.

Our goal is to ensure your viewing experience is top-notch, and we strive to offer comprehensive solutions. However, if you can't find the information you need, we encourage you to seek assistance from an approved DStv installer through our website.

Call or WhatsApp us on 077 454 4032 and we will book an accredited DStv installer for Aureus. We handle the whole job ourselves — dish, LNB, cabling, decoder setup and activation — so there is no need to phone MultiChoice or wait in a queue at a walk-in centre.

Our minimum call-out fee is R550, which covers the technician coming out to you and diagnosing the problem. A full new installation starts from R1,500, a dish replacement from R800, and a dish realignment from R450. You get the price confirmed before any work starts — no hourly surprises.

Yes. The minimum call-out fee is R550 and it covers the visit and a full diagnosis of the fault. If you go ahead with the repair or installation, that fee forms part of the job — we confirm the total with you before we start.

We cover Aureus and the surrounding suburbs, and our technicians resolve most call-outs the same day. Phone or WhatsApp 077 454 4032 and we will give you a realistic time slot rather than a week-long window.

Most installations take between 1 and 3 hours, depending on how complex the job is — where the dish has to go, how far the cable has to run, and how many decoders are being set up.

A standard installation covers mounting and aligning the satellite dish, fitting the LNB, routing and terminating the coaxial cable, connecting and setting up the decoder, and confirming signal quality on every channel before we leave.

You can, but it rarely works out cheaper. Dish alignment is measured in fractions of a degree, most dishes sit at height where a fall is a real risk, and a badly terminated F-connector is the single most common cause of the E48-32 no-signal errors we are called out to fix. An accredited installer gets it right first time and stands behind the work.

Both. We repair and replace DStv decoders — dead power supplies, HDMI faults, boot loops and smartcard problems. Most faults are sorted the same day, and our repairs carry a 6-month warranty.

Yes. Loss of signal is usually a dish knocked out of alignment, a corroded or loose connector, or a failing LNB. We realign dishes from R450 and carry replacement LNBs and connectors, so it is normally fixed in one visit.

Yes. We install extra TV points and set up DStv Extra View, including the second decoder, the heartbeat cabling between the units and the activation. It is one of our most common jobs.

Yes. Our installers are DStv accredited and undergo regular training. That matters because accredited work is done to MultiChoice's cabling and signal standards, which protects both your equipment and your subscription.

Yes. As well as DStv installation and repairs, we mount TVs on brick, drywall and mounted-unit walls, conceal the cabling, and install surround sound systems — usually on the same visit as your DStv work.
